Bio
Aly is a vibrant shiny innovator and a dedicated multi-skilled freelance creative based in Falmouth, Cornwall UK.
Her colourful career story spans a whole host of themes including glitter clad podium dancer, club scene event promoter, punk band performer, independent music licensing specialist and private chef to piano teacher, experimental filmmaker, installation and sound artist, field recordist, composer, videographer and devoted mother.
Aly’s story dances with adventure, diversity, and you could say she’s a lover of eclectic experiences. All of this is strongly underpinned with her astute ability, rich imagination and a life long hard wired drive for individuality.
Fully Immersing herself in the wild and varied Cornish landscape, she draws inspiration from her natural surroundings for audio visual creations and deep soundscapes.
Her daily ritual sees her mostly outdoors, either indulging in nature, ancient sites and sea swimming, or spending time in contrasting urban environments, seeking out unusual abandoned buildings, sacred spaces or the craggy, carved out industrial landscapes .
She celebrates mythology, folklore and storytelling, she’s passionate about experimenting with field recordings and video to evoke mood and capture a strong sense of place.
The golden thread running through Aly’s work is her practice she coins as ‘noticing's’. These noticing's are the back bone essence of her work. Her art is seeing, hearing and feeling the detailed audio visual layers and intricacies that everyday life mostly overlooks .
Aly’s work aims to offer meaningful experiences, to discover and portray beauty, nuance, subtlety and the uncanny. To provide a richer story, offering depth and passion and an alternative perspective- delivering bespoke unique hand crafted soundtracks, digital media content and original films. The latest screenings of her audio visual work were at The Fish factory Penryn, Cast in Helston and Manchester Folk Horror Festival where she shared her experimental film based on a myth surrounding Aleister Crowley and his time spent in the West Country …
