'Hummadruz is a collective term for the phenomenon where individuals or groups of people hear a low unexplained ‘humming noise or vibration’ (it can take other forms) which seems to appear then disappear without a probable source – almost as if it comes from the earth itself.
It could be said that the magic of hummadruz is the quiet beating heart of Penwith, with its history stretching back to the Bronze and Iron Age; the landscape so intertwined with thousands of years of myth, legend and the occult. Ask anyone who has been to an ancient local festival (i.e. Golowan) or visited a site of historical and spiritual significance (i.e. Lanyon Quiot) and they will hopefully understand what I am trying to say.'

Whilst gathering footage in 2019 for my film #sagelydark #crowley https://vimeo.com/353329599, I discovered this hummadruz phenomenon....
The stone Quoit featured in my film, that lies opposite to Carn Cottage, on Zennor Moor, Cornwall, is one of these magical places where a hummadruz can be heard. The Quoit is an integral element to the myth set up at the cottage, as it is said to be a portal. Whatever Crowley invoked was supposed to have manifested through this site, causing immense shock to the onlookers and subsequently resulting in the unfortunate death of local celebrity; Ka Cox.....
I field recorded the landscape at the Quoit. The air was still and there was an audibly detectable low range frequency that was underlying the area, almost like the resonance of a distant plane but coming up from the ground. I added this low bass hum as a layer to the film soundtrack.
